PMSS Scholarship Scheme 2024: The Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme (PMSS), is an initiative of the Kendriya Sainik Board Secretariat, Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. It is a scholarship scheme that aims at encouraging higher professional and technical education for the dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPFs & AR) and State Police Personnel.

PM Scholarship 2024-25, scholarships are awarded to children and spouses of ex-martyrs and serving soldiers of all sectors of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Assam Rifles, Central Armed Forces, and RPF/SRPF. BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, and SSB personnel are also included under the Central Armed Forces.

Eligibility Criteria:

Students need to read the eligibility conditions carefully to apply for the scholarship. The key eligibility conditions that candidates need to fulfil for this scholarship include:

  • Career Assessment Test
  • Applicant must be dependent ward/widow of ex-servicemen and ex-coast guard personnel
  • Students must have taken admission in the 1st-year of a UG course (except lateral entry & integrated courses)
  • Candidate must have scored 60% marks and above in Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ)* i.e. Class 12/diploma/graduation

Note:- The Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) for entry to various professional courses differs. A candidate must have a minimum of 60% marks in MEQ to apply for the PM Scholarship Scheme. The calculation will include all subjects, including optional subjects, and not just the best subjects.

PMSS Scholarship 2024 – Rewards

While a total of 2,000 eligible candidates get benefits under this scheme every year, the number of girls receiving this scholarship is equal to the number of boys receiving this scholarship. However, the amount of scholarship given to girls is ₹3,000 per month and the amount of scholarship given to boys is ₹2,500 per month, paid annually. Furthermore, the duration of the scholarship may vary from one year to five years depending on the course duration. Adding to this, 500 more scholarships (250 for boys and 250 for girls) will be given to the wards of the State Police Personnel who are martyred during Naxal/Terror attacks from 2019-20 onwards.

Documents Required

The list of all all documents students must provide during the PMSS scholarship application.

  • Aadhaar card of student
  • Matriculation certificate for verifying the date of birth
  • Ex-servicemen/Ex-coast guard certificate duly filled up and signed by ZSB/Coast Guard HQ as per Annexure-1
  • The Bonafide certificate duly filled up correctly and signed by the Vice Chancellor/Principal/Vice
  • Principal/Dean/Associate Dean/Registrar/Dy Registrar/Director/Dy Director of the Institute/College as per Annexure-2
  • Certificate from the student’s bank stating that the Aadhaar card of the student is linked with their bank account number as per Annexure-3
  • Minimum Educational Qualification (MEQ) certificate as applicable including Class 12 mark sheet/graduation (all 3 years)/Diploma
  • First-page of the bank passbook (preferably PNB/SBI only) clearly shows the name and account number of student and the IFS code of the bank
  • PPO/ESM identity card for Category 6 and the following supporting documents in case of Category 1 to 5:
  • Category 1: Part II order in case of army; general form in case of Navy; POR in case of Air Force
  • Category 5: Award certificate along with gazette notification
  • Category 6: Original PPO or ESM identity card (to be scanned and uploaded)

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria. The order of preference for the selection of candidates will be as under:

Category 1: Wards & Widows of ESM/Ex-coast guard personnel killed in action

Category 2: Wards of ESM/Ex-coast Guard personnel disabled in action and boarded out of service with disability attributable to military/Coast Guard service

Category 3: Wards & Widows of ESM/Ex-coast Guard personnel who died while in service for causes attributable to military/Coast Guard service

Category 4: Wards of ESM/Ex-coast Guard personnel disabled in service with disability attributable to military/Coast Guard service

Category 5: Wards & Widows of ESM/ex coast guard personnel in receipt of gallantry awards

Category 6: Wards/widows of ESM/ex coast guard personnel (PBOR Only)

To be eligible for the PM scholarship for dual degree integrated courses, students must complete their first two years of non-professional courses without failing, repeating, or taking a break (RA).

If a student fails to clear all subjects in the first two years on the first attempt or within the stipulated time frame, they will not be eligible for the scholarship.

PMSS Scholarship 2024-25 Registration?

By following the steps given below you can very easily register for PM Scholarship 2024-25 on the National Scholarship Portal.

Step 1 : First of all, open the official website of the National Scholarship Portal https://sholarships.gov.in/.

Step 2 : On the homepage of the website, click on the “New Registration” link in the “Applicant Corner”.

Step 3 : Now, select the checkbox of “Undertaking” on the page that opens on your screen and click on “Continue”.

Step-4 : Now, verify your mobile number in the first step and Aadhaar number in the second step. After this, the registration form will open on your screen, fill it out carefully and click on the “Register” button. Thus, your registration on the NSP portal is completed. You have to carefully note down your registration number appearing on the screen.

PM Scholarship 2024-25 Online Application?

All the applicants in this category have to follow the steps given below to become the beneficiaries of the Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme.

Step 1: Open the official website of the National Scholarship Portal.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the link of “New Application” in the “Applicant Corner”.

Step-3: Now the login page will open, where you have to enter your registration number, password, and captcha and click on the “Login” button. After this, verify it by typing the OTP received on your mobile. Remember that for the first PMSS Portal login, your date of birth will be used as the password in the format DD-MM-YYYY.

Step-4: After this, the window for creating a new password will open, where you will have to create a new password and submit it.

Step-5: Now the PM Scholarship application form 2024 will open, which has to be filled out carefully. It is most important to select your respective category as per your eligibility in “Basic Profession” from “Central Armed Forces/Assam Rifles, RPF/SRPF, State Police Personnel” etc. at the end of the application form. Next, click on the “Save and Continue” button.

Step-6: Now select “Pradhan Mantri Scholarship Scheme” in the “Select Scheme” column under “Scheme” on the page that appears on the screen. After that upload all the required documents by writing your address and finally click on the “Final Submit” button.
